Textbook-laden truck plunged in Tangail

A textbook-laden truck plunged into a roadside ditch in Tangail yesterday.

The truck was carrying at least 1,21,120 textbooks. Several thousand of those were damaged in water, police sources said quoting transport workers.

The truck fell in the ditch on Tangail-Mymensingh highway before entering Kalihati upazila parishad premises as the driver lost control over the steering, said Mosharaf Hossain, officer-in-charge of Kalihati Police Station.

On information, police recovered the textbooks with the help of labourers and brought those to the police station, the OC added.

Rokeya Khatun, upazila education officer of Kalihati, said she was informed about the accident but could not estimate the damage.
